Sands of Time I come from a stolen history...A long line of a broken legacy...Where my peoples greatness Was hidden by hatred... And chained and shackled by bitter cold faces But still...I rise on... But my legacy is different...So like the others but unique in its spirit...My story dates back to the Egyptian Queens...To the Nefertiti's the Hatshepsut's and all in between... See I ruled the land with nobody's help... I wasnt just a woman I was Egypt myself... Even in bondage I still wore my crown... Although I was beaten and thrown to the ground... I have many names buried deep in my roots... My name is Sojourner and I am the Truth... I am Harriet Tubman but some called me Moses...I led mine to promised land with freedom as focus...I've been through the pain and suffering and hurting...And then bore the name of Zora Neale Hurston...I sang my whole heart out and neva had shame...And folks wondered why I'm named LADY Day...As well as Dorothy Dandridge I came on the scene...And i acted in movies on the big silver screen...See I did it all with my eye on the prize...Had the guard up to fight for my rights...They Tried to lock me down but Rosa wasn’t beat...Id rather go to jail then to give up my seat...I didn’t back down i didnt shake in my boots...I shoulda been named mountain cuz I will not be moved...Ima Coretta Scott King type of Queen...A Betty Shabazz take ova the task kind of Queen...yet sum still deny my thrown...like I'm not the mother of everything they own...I came from Slavery and bondage to winning Grammy's and Oscars...and broke down the wall and added "Black Woman" to the roster...I made the world move and I stood firm and tall...Looked hate in the face and caused him to fall...I...am...Queen...And to all those who fall under my legacy...Never let anyone tell you who you need or better be...For you are safe my dear in these hands of mine...Now go take your rightful place in the Sands of Time...
